The Admissions Process and Requirements
What is your admissions process?
Our admissions process differs from many other colleges and universities. We have developed a process designed to ensure that we can provide you with the skills and training necessary to make you competitive and marketable when beginning your career. We conduct a personalized Career Planning Session to learn about your interests and goals, ensuring that you have the drive and commitment to succeed in your chosen field. We then assist you with individualized career planning, program selection and obtaining the necessary financial assistance should you qualify.
Is there an entrance exam?
Applicants take the Scholastic Level Exam to help determine placement in the appropriate program and classes.
Must I have a high school diploma?
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED to be eligible for acceptance.
What if I don’t know exactly what program I’m interested in?
No problem! If you are uncertain about your major, you're not alone. Research by Penn State and other institutions has shown that up to 80% of students entering college admit that they're not certain what they want to major in, even if they've initially declared a major. In addition, up to 50% of college students change their majors at least once before graduation, and some change several times. This is one of many reasons why we require all potential students to meet with an Admissions Representative, who will conduct a personalized Career Planning Session.
Are any support services available?
At Indiana Business College, we pride ourselves on an extensive support network designed to help each and every one of our students achieve their career goals. Our team is ready to assist you with the admissions process, financial aid, career planning and scholarship qualification. We even offer help with day-to-day challenges such as finding quality daycare for children or keeping up with your coursework. And once you graduate, you can count on us to be with you every step of the way with our Lifetime Employment Assistance program.
Will my credits from Indiana Business College transfer to other colleges?
While the curriculum of Indiana Business College is designed for students who want to pursue a career-focused education and complete their degree in as little time as possible, credit transfer opportunities are available. Transferring credits from Indiana Business College to another institution is not guaranteed, as it is up to the receiving institution to decide if they will accept Indiana Business College’s credits. Check with an Admissions Representative at the other school to find out if they accept our credits and then we will be happy to send them your transcript or other required documentation.
Will Indiana Business College accept credits previously earned by another institution?
Indiana Business College does consider credits for transfer from other accredited colleges. Decisions to accept incoming credits to Indiana Business College from another school are made by the Dean or Executive Director at your local IBC campus. Information regarding these previously earned credits should be shared with your Admissions Representative when inquiring about Indiana Business College. Additionally, if your previous credits do not meet IBC qualification guidelines, you may attempt to earn credit by examination. For high school students, this program is called “Fast Track to Success.” If interested, our Admissions Representatives will be happy to provide you with more information.

Tuition and Financial Aid
How much do classes cost?
As with any college, IBC tuition rates vary depending on the program you are taking and the frequency of classes you are enrolled in each quarter. Once this information is assessed, an exact cost of tuition can be determined. Remember that tuition is separate from fees and books that will need to be paid for as well. College is affordable, and there is a financial plan available for everyone. Take comfort in determining what is best for your needs by meeting with an Admissions Representative and Financial Aid Analyst when deciding if IBC is right for you.
What is the Tuition Freeze Program?
IBC’s Tuition Freeze Program guarantees that your tuition will not increase as long as you are continuously enrolled as a degree-seeking student. Even if you complete one degree and move right into another program, your tuition will not go up. You do not have to take any extra steps to sign up for the Tuition Freeze Program when you enroll.
Do you offer financial aid?
Yes! Financial aid is available to those who qualify. In fact, 93% of IBC students receive some form of financial aid. The Financial Aid Office will provide you with the best one-on-one service. Prior to meeting with someone in the Financial Aid Office, you must complete a Career Planning Session with an Admissions Representative, complete an application for enrollment and submit the $50 application fee.

What can I achieve with an IBC degree?
Statistics reflect the reality that the higher your education, the more competitive you are in today’s job market. Consider these points:
- According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs that require an Associate Degree or higher will account for 54% of total job growth by the year 2014.
- Someone with a degree can expect to make an additional $2.2 million over the course of his or her professional career versus someone without one.
- A higher education not only dramatically increases your value to current and potential employers, but also helps buffer you from the unemployment epidemic of a faltering economy.
- The psychological benefits and other intangible rewards of achieving a degree—including more self-confidence and better self-image—are your catalyst to achieving even more.
How long will it take to complete my course of study?
Because the majority of your curriculum at Indiana Business College is concentrated on your selected area of study, it is possible for you to earn an Associate Degree in just under two years or a Diploma in as few as 12 months. Career-focused Certificate programs are also very popular with our students and we now offer Bachelor of Science degrees at selected campuses for those students interested in additional education.
When do classes start?
Indiana Business College operates on a quarter system rather than a semester system. Quarters are 12 weeks long with classes beginning in September, January, April and June. When particular programs begin depends on campus program availability. Please contact an Admissions Representative for further details.
Does Indiana Business College offer online courses?
Yes. IBC Online Studies enables you to obtain a college degree on your schedule, no matter where you're located. No long commute. No schedule conflicts. No childcare worries. And no reason to put off taking that first step and enrolling in a degree program that can change your life! Not all IBC degrees and programs are available online. To learn more about all the IBC academic programs currently offered online, visit the Online Studies section of this website.
What is the average class size at IBC?
Our classes average about 16 students. Our students have told us that the small class sizes at Indiana Business College have truly made a difference in the quality of instruction they've experienced. We believe it is key to providing the kind of personalized, one-on-one attention necessary to help you succeed.
Is IBC an accredited college?
Yes. Indiana Business College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award Certificates, Diplomas and Associate of Applied Science Degrees. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education. Its accreditation of degree-granting institutions also is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Why are IBC’s campuses located across the state rather than on one large campus?
Indiana Business College takes pride in its localism. This helps with keeping commuting times and mileage reasonable when driving to and from campus. Also, this helps to develop relationships with local employers when students begin their job search before and after graduation.
