The IBC admissions process is different from other colleges because we are so focused on preparing you for a career. For that reason we will conduct a personalized Career Planning Session with you to learn about your interests and goals.

Because of IBC’s quarter system, there is no application deadline. Once admitted you could be able to start classes in as little as a week and, at the most, in 12 weeks when the next quarter begins.
Following is a brief overview of the requirements for each program. For more information, contact an IBC Admissions Representative.
Associate Degree, Certificate and Diploma Program
To qualify for acceptance to any Associate Degree, Certificate or Diploma program except for Associate Degree in Nursing, you must meet the following requirements.
- Participate in a Personal Career Planning Session with an Admissions Representative.
- Certify that you have earned a high school diploma or a GED.
- Complete an application for admission with a $50 nonrefundable fee.
- Take and successfully pass a Scholastic Level Exam.
Medical Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technology and Surgical Technology Programs
In addition to the above requirements, persons interested in these programs must meet with the Medical Program Coordinator after acceptance to learn expectations of students. In order to participate in courses that include performing invasive procedures, students must also provide verification of a physical examination, TB skin test, Hepatitis-B vaccine and/or waiver, immunizations and liability insurance.
Associate Degree in Nursing Program
Admission to this program is competitive and requires completion of the following steps. (Don’t worry—an Admissions Representative will help you understand all of the steps involved and provide you with more details.)
- Complete a Personal Career Planning Session with an Admissions Representative.
- Complete an application for admission with a $50 nonrefundable fee.
- Certify high school diploma or completion of GED.
- Participate in an Informational Seminar or Group Interview with the Director of Nursing Education
- Successfully complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), followed by an interview with the Director of Nursing Education.
- Submit a background check form with a $40 nonrefundable fee.
- Submit high school transcripts and/or SAT and ACT scores if you want them to be considered (see Admissions Representative for eligible classes).
- Submit two letters of recommendation.
- Submit an essay describing why you want to be a nurse.
Bachelor of Science Degree Program
Applicants who wish to further their education beyond an Associate Degree must meet these requirements:
- Hold an Associate Degree or equivalent from an accredited postsecondary institution in a related field.
- Provide official college transcripts.
- Interview with an Admissions Representative and complete an application for admission with a $50 nonrefundable fee.
- If not an IBC graduate, participate in a Personal Career Planning Session and certify a high school diploma or GED.
